It’s getting warmer which means a rescheduling of most of my photoshoots from morning to early evening. That’s especially true with headshots because I don’t like to see (or, rather, photoshop) out beads of sweat and sweaty matted hair in photos. Something that I’m certain my clients appreciate.

The photo above is of a NYC actress named Kelley Bradshaw. She was in town for AIDA, and while she was performing she took a day to enjoy Savannah, Lady and Sons, and snap a few shots. I’ve had quite a few actors from out of state come to me lately, which is a joy. It’s nice for them to have photos in such a great and scenic city like Savannah.

My wedding season is about to start as well, just after I get back from being the Maid of Honor at my best friend’s wedding in northeast Texas. Though I’m not the hired photographer, I’m given special permission to document the day as I see fit. Yeah, I’m gonna be the person that I usually hate at weddings. As soon as I’m done with the wedding, I’ll be jet-setting to Amarillo for at least one maternity shoot, and possibly a few family shoots. And after 4 days of that, I’ll be back in Savannah, gearing up for a June 5th wedding with my assistant Jonathan (who, might I add, is also an assistant to Paula Deen herself!).

New news on the website front: I’ll be adding a shopping cart to my website in the next few weeks, so those of you who have wanted to proof and purchase pictures will be able to simply and easily do it from your own desktop!! It won’t be retroactive, though, only for photoshoots beginning in June. Still, be on the lookout.

The trend in headshots lately is to be more natural, less studio strobe lights, and it’s nice when you find a location that perfectly suits each actor. Being an actor myself, I realize how important it is to find that personality in a shot, and I’m always open to suggestions from the people getting their headshots done.

What’s happening next:

I have a few weddings lined up for the year, and I may be performing later on (more details on that as I hear them). Certainly planning on some trips around the country: Branson, Vegas, Cali… the usual. In the meantime, I’m in Savannah, so if you are, and you need some shots, let me know!

Yesterday I had the opportunity to take photos once again for my dear friend and fellow photographer Erin Gonzalez. We shot in downtown Savannah, late in the day, and at the last second we saw this light on the brick pavement, and pulled over down an alley to catch the last rays.

It's been a busy few months...

What’s already happened:

I’ve flown to the west coast THREE times in the past 2 months, auditioned for the Vegas production of Jersey Boys, shot numerous headshots with lots of new people (look for your headshots to be added to the gallery within the next week or so), and attended a wedding in California. That wedding happened to be my own father, and photos will be up shortly.

What’s happening next:

I will be in Savannah for the next 4-5 weeks, working and performing at the Savannah Theatre on the production “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” as Marcy Park. Tickets for the show can be purchased at www.savannahtheatre.com . As it only runs for 3 weekends, if you want to go, I suggest getting tickets asap.

Two days after that closes, I’ll once again be moving to Hilton Head, SC to perform in Cabaret until the end of October.

Sooooo…. that means that until September 7th, I’ll be free during the daytime to do headshots/family pics/engagement pics if anyone wants to book them. By the 8th, I will not be free to do photos unless it’s on a Monday (when I can get back to Savannah) or after Cabaret opens I can work during the daytime if you would like to drive to Hilton Head for a shoot.

Hello friends! Headshots have been keeping me quite busy as of late, and I also have the good fortune of having been cast in the musical Les Miserables in Hilton Head South Carolina as the understudy for Eponine. Rehearsals for that show begin at the end of this month, and performances will be from April 24- May 24, so if you want to book a photoshoot soon, it needs to be before mid April, and I need to know about it asap.

That being said, I worked on the other side of the camera as a model (?!?!) for makeup artist Jules (dollfacebyjules.com) and photographer Christine Szeredy (szeredyphotography.com) here in town. It was fascinating to see how other photographers work, and it gave me some insight into some of the anxiety my clients feel when they are in the middle of a photoshoot. Hopefully, that can give me a better perspective when I’m shooting.

Okay, I am terrible at updating my blog..

This weekend I did a wedding here in Savannah at “Savannah Station” and it was perfect. The picture above is the bride getting ready.

In addition to that, I’ve been swamped with headshot requests. That being said, I think I might start redirecting my business to do more headshots. I am super-passionate about them, and I am good at them.

Tomorrow, however, I will be getting my OWN headshots done locally here in town. I’m pretty excited about them. Nervous too. It’s always weird to be on the other side of the camera.

Luckily for us, the photos turned out pretty good.

Everyone had a lot of ideas of what they wanted in their pictures, so we have a lot of unconventional photos from that day, and that’s going to be a lot of fun someday when they flip back through the photo albums!!!
